Women of Rabaa
Produced the “Women of Rabaa” video series documenting massacre survivors' testimonies.
I produced a series of long-form filmed testimonies for MEE featuring women who took part in the Rabaa sit-in or witnessed the massacre unfold. The series brought together multiple perspectives, including women who participated, lived in the surrounding neighbourhood, or opposed the sit-in from the beginning. It was produced a decade later, when the English-language record remained limited.
- 1 of 4Women of Rabaa: 'The bullets rained down on us,' says survivor Jehan Maher AqlA witness to the massacre, on the day itself and on what survivors carried afterwards.
- 2 of 4Women of Rabaa: Muslim activists sidelined in Egypt since the massacre, says Heba ZakariaA journalist and eyewitness, on how Muslim women activists were pushed to the margins of the coverage that followed.
- 3 of 4Women of Rabaa: Hafsa Ali saw the massacre unfold in real timeA resident of the Rabaa neighbourhood who watched the assault from steps away as it happened.
- 4 of 4Women of Rabaa: Shorouq Amjad on Tamarod, Morsi's ouster and the massacreOnce an activist in Tamarod, which campaigned for Morsi's ouster — on what led to the massacre and what came after.

Made for Middle East Eye · 253 posts
Carousels, graphics and Reels I made for Middle East Eye, from my own record of them. The strongest fifty are held on this site in full — every slide of every album and the film itself — so they read here whatever happens to them at source; the rest keep their figures, their date and their link. They are ordered by what each reached: by views where a post has them — Instagram counts them on films and not on photographs — and by likes where it does not, both in one list. All of it went out on the outlet's other platforms as well — Facebook, X and TikTok — where it was seen thousands, tens of thousands and in places hundreds of thousands of times. Rather than crowd the page with four links to every post, only the Instagram ones are given here.

This is part of what I made for them, not all of it. Social work is published under the outlet's name rather than mine, so there is no author archive to draw on — these are the ones I kept, added as examples.
