Egyptian journalist and Digital Newsroom Manager at ArabicPost, with more than ten years in newsrooms across investigative reporting and human rights.

Digital Newsroom Manager at ArabicPost with over a decade of experience across 10+ institutions in newsrooms, investigative and open-source journalism, and human rights. I have contributed in English to MEMO, MEE, The New Arab, and New Lines magazine, and worked as a researcher for CFWIJ.

Most of my career has been in Arabic media, including roles as a journalist at HuffPost Arabic and as Senior Producer and later Team Lead at Arabi Post. I have also contributed to four projects with Al Jazeera Arabic.

Trained 25+ professionals across leading media and research organisations. Founded ArabicPost’s One-Person Production Unit, equipping journalists to independently manage writing, design, and video editing — a model that helped generate 1.3B+ organic views and 42M+ engagements within months. Extended the same strategy to podcast production through Syria Podcast, and delivered English-language AI integration workshops for Al Sharq Strategic Research.

ArabicPostRunning the social newsroom

Instagram and TikTok, built into newsrooms of their own

I founded a first-of-its-kind team at ArabicPost in which every member is a one-person production unit — writing, designing and cutting video without external staff. I trained each of them myself.

Middle East EyeFilmed testimony

Women of Rabaa

I produced a series of long-form filmed testimonies from women who took part in the Rabaa sit-in or watched the massacre unfold — recorded from several vantage points rather than one, including women who had opposed the sit-in from the start. Recorded in English a decade on, when the record in English was still thin.

SasaPostOpen-source investigation

Washington Lobbying Data Map

The work I am proudest of: an open-source investigation for SasaPost mapping Arab and Middle Eastern lobbying activity in Washington DC — government, military and political groups — compiled from public filings that sat scattered across disconnected sources and had never been read together.

AI for Research, Writing and Data Visualisation

I designed and delivered intensive English-language training programmes for research interns at Al Sharq Strategic Research — putting AI tools to practical use in research and academic writing, in data visualisation, and in building no-code interactive dashboards, for people who are not specialists in any of it.

How has the Egyptian government sought to erase the revolutionary identity of Tahrir Square?

A paper for the MEDİT workshop on the urban and local dimensions of political violence, examining the architectural and administrative reshaping of Tahrir Square since 2011 as a deliberate strategy to suppress its revolutionary meaning. A summary was published in English by The New Arab.

Syria PodcastPodcast, social

A social system for a podcast, and the editor to run it

I ran the podcast's Instagram through a trial period and trained the in-house editor to run it unaided — platform-specific writing, carousels and episode graphics, and Reels editing that ties an episode to the news. A transferable system, handed over to staff.

One podcast across Instagram, TikTok, YouTube and Facebook

The same discipline carried across four platforms at once, each with its own cut and its own writing. Everything published is held on this site — every slide of every album and the video itself, so a post taken down at source still plays here.

The Survivor’s Guilt of an Egyptian Ex-Prisoner

A first-person essay written for the printed edition of a Washington-based magazine, and published on its website as well. New Lines posted my own copy to me in London, where I was living at the time — the photograph is that copy, open at the piece.
